mirrored surfaces, and even stainless steel.

We also offer engraved giftware,
custom
paint (flames & graphics), t-shirt artwork,
logos & ads. Located in Uxbridge,
Massachusetts we have been creating unique one-of-a-kind creations for
over twenty years.
Engraving (not to be confused with etching) is tooled or
carved on the surface of the
glass or metal. We can also use a sandblast and
deep-stage sandblast that is deep carved
into the glass (available on plate glass and mirror). We
are able to work on all types of glass
including the tempered (safety) glass used in
automobiles and trucks with no problems.
At "Engraving By Schlos" we have developed our own
custom ground engraving tips
used in conjunction with a highly modified (dremel
style) vibrating pencil engraver that
allows us precision detail and control on all glass and
metal surfaces. We can work on items
from as small as a wine glass to as large as a
storefront. Some of our clients include the
Copley Plaza Hotel, Back Bay Hilton and the Tremont
Hotel in Boston, MA.
We
also do custom residential engraving on both interior
and exterior glass.

We
offer numerous designs for mirrors, and glass framed
"pictures" to display.
Anything from scenery, to portraits of people, animals,
hot rods, muscle cars, motorcycles,
low riders, custom bikes, trucks, rigs, imports, etc.
can be preserved in glass or mirror.
The
engraving begins with your idea followed by a pattern
that we create. This pattern is
used to show you, the customer, what the basic design
will be like. At this point any
changes or modifications must be made, because once the
design is begun there is
no room for error! After the engraving of the "hard
lines" of the design we can, as needed,
use targeted sandblasting to enhance and soften the
artwork. The sandblasting also
helps to provide a third dimension to the artwork and
gives it an airbrushed look.
The last step in many cases is adding color to the
artwork. Color really adds to the overall
effect and normally lasts 4-5 years on most
outside applications. As allowable we will re-touch
the color at any time free of charge.
All of
the engraving and sandblasting are permanent! Please
note that on automotive/truck
glass the darker the window tint the better the
artwork/engraving appears. Aftermarket
window tint is applied on the inside of the vehicle
while the engraving is done on the
outside of the glass so neither will interfere with the
other. The engraving we perform
is not deep into the glass so it won't interfere with
rear defrosters either.
We
also custom paint vehicles, cars, trucks, and bikes.
Schlos' favorite passion is traditional
"hot rod" flames which are airbrushed and clear coated.
All types of painted graphics are
available as well. Schlos is an artist that can design
